A bidirectional scanning method for scanning transmission X-ray microscopy

چکیده

Scanning mode is a key factor for the comprehensive performance, including imaging efficiency, of scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM). Herein presented bidirectional method designed STXM with an S-shaped moving track. In this method, artificially ramp waves are generated by piezo-stage controller to control two-dimensional sample. The sample position information measured using laser interferometric sensors and sent field-programmable gate array (FPGA) board which also acquires signals simultaneously from detector. Since data recorded FPGA contain real each scanned point, influence backlash caused back-turning movement on image can be eliminated. By employing adapted post-processing program, re-meshed high-resolution obtained. This S-track in fly-scan has been implemented endstation at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), successfully resolved ∼30 nm interval between innermost strips Siemens star. work removes limitation motor vibration, significantly improves efficiency experiments.

X-Ray Diffraction and Scanning Probe Microscopy

Diffraction can occur when electromagnetic radiation interacts with a periodic structure whose repeat distance is about the same as the wavelength of the radiation. Visible light, for example, can be diffracted by a grating that contains scribed lines spaced only a few thousand angstroms apart, about the wavelength of visible light. X-rays have wavelengths on the order of angstroms, in the rang...

Nano-structural Characterization of Post-annealed ZnO Thin Films by X-ray Diffraction and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy

ZnO thin films were deposited on Si(400) substrates by e-beam evaporation technique, and then post-annealed at different annealing temperatures (200-800°C). Dependence of the crystallographic structure, nano-strain, chemical composition and surface physical Morphology of these layers on annealing temperature were studied. The crystallographic structure of films was studied using X-Ray Diffracti...

Scanning transmission X-ray, laser scanning, and transmission electron microscopy mapping of the exopolymeric matrix of microbial biofilms.

Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and soft X-ray scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM) were used to map the distribution of macromolecular subcomponents (e.g., polysaccharides, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids) of biofilm cells and matrix. The biofilms were developed from river water supplemented with methanol, and although they compri...

Scanning hall probe microscopy technique for investigation of magnetic properties

Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (SHPM) is a scanning probe microscopy technique developed to observe and image magnetic fields locally. This method is based on application of the Hall Effect, supplied by a micro hall probe attached to the end of cantilever as a sensor.  SHPM provides direct quantitative information on the magnetic state of a material and can also image magnetic induction under a...
